Choir Loft (St. James)


Music Ministry includes the following opportunities:

    Adult Choirs lead the music for two weekend Masses and for special parish celebrations. Anyone high school age or older who likes to sing is welcome to try out for either choir. The choirs' schedules are as follows:
    8:30 Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings at St. James. This choir sings primarily for the 8:30 Sunday Mass at St. James and occasionally also sings for the 4:00 Mass.
    10:00 Choir rehearses primarily on Thursday evenings at St. Patrick. This choir sings for the 10:00 a.m. Mass at St. Patrick.
    Children's Choir sings approximately once a month for one of the Saturday evening Masses. Children in grades 2 through 5 are encouraged to sing in this choir. Rehearsals take place on the day the choir is scheduled to sing at a particular Mass. On days that the choir sings for 4:00 p.m. Mass, the rehearsal will begin at 2:45 at St. James. On days that the choir sings for 5:30 p.m. Mass, the rehearsal will begin at 4:15 at St. Patrick. Signup information will be distributed through Sts. James and Patrick Parish School of Religion and St. Patrick Grade School. Other interested 2nd-5th graders should contact the parish office.
    Youth Choir sings approximately once a month for one of the Saturday evening Masses. Youth in grades 6 through 8 are encouraged to sing in this choir. Rehearsals take place on the day the choir is scheduled to sing at a particular Mass. On days that the choir sings for 4:00 p.m. Mass, the rehearsal will begin at 2:45 at St. James. On days that the choir sings for 5:30 p.m. Mass, the rehearsal will begin at 4:15 at St. Patrick. Signup information will be distributed through Sts. James and Patrick Parish School of Religion and St. Patrick Grade School. Other interested 6th-8th graders should contact the parish office. Handbell Choir adds to the music at weekend liturgies on an occasional basis. Rehearsals are on Thursdays from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Patrick. Anyone high school age or older who reads music or is willing to learn is welcome.
    Cantors lead the assembly's singing as well as sing solo portions of the liturgy. Anyone with a good singing voice is welcome to try out for this ministry.
    Instrumentalists add to the music at liturgy by playing various brass, woodwind, percussion and string instruments. Anyone who has had training on an instrument is welcome to try out for this ministry.
